A little about this unique building
The building was architecturally designed by Rogers Architects and completed in 2010.
On the ground floor is a spacious Commercial Shop, originally designed as a purpose built Gallery, but with much flexibility for alternative uses; for example, real estate agency, retail shop, & day spa. The Shop is very modern and stylish with great design features and high quality fittings.
On the first floor there are two light filled and spacious Apartments. Both apartments are very modern and stylish with great design features and high quality fittings. Usage has included residential and holiday letting.
The light house design can be recognised when viewing the property from the carriageway entry. The tall sandstone feature foyer wall extends from ground level to above the roof line of the building. It is the key feature of the light house design.
The buildings nautical theme continues with the unique pier pilon at the front of the building. This aged sea pilon extends from ground to level one, and appears to be holding the skillon roof in place.
The eye catching skillion roofline at both ends of the building makes 'The Loft' quite distinctive building in main street precinct of Sorrento.
The use of sandstone also on the façade and other areas of the building, is in keeping with many of the old established homes in the area, as sandstone was sourced from the Mornington Peninsula at the time of their construction.
Internally, the asymmetrical lines create style and interest, depth and character. The feature floor to ceiling windows are expansive and take advantage of the aspect of the property overlooking Sorrento's main street.
Most importantly, 'The Loft' fits in beautifully with the charm and character of the local area.
